Make note of the following points when closing an account in ICICI bank.

  1. Submit a signed application at any ICICI Bank branch along with the unused cheque book and ATM/debit card.
  2. Please note that if the account is closed in 30 days of account opening, then no charges will be applicable for account closure.
  3. If the account is closed after 30 days and within 1 year of opening the account, then the charges of Rs 500 will be applicable for the same.
  4. The balance amount will be sent to your communication address updated in their records through pay order or any outstanding amount in the account should be cleared before placing a request for the closure of the account.
  5. If your account is inactive, please submit a signed application to the branch where you have the account for its activation before placing the request for the closure of the account. (If the account is inactive or dormant).

Be sure of the charges..and remember to destroy the card and cheque-leaves in the presence of the branch people while handing over the application. Ensure to recheck the address on Bank’s records in case a payorder is to be sent later.
Most important, why take all this trouble..just let the account be!

    Dear Mr. Venkatachalam,

As your account is linked with i-direct you need to de-registered the I-direct first and you may visit any nearest ICICI branch along with the debit card and any unused cheque leaves and a request letter.

Our branch officer will assist you further.

Regarding the Demat we have forwarded your query to the department concern. Our officer will assist you further in a separate mail.

    Sincerely,

    Vinay Kumar

Sub: ICICI Bank SB Account closing – reg
Ref: My SB account No 613501090881

With reference to the above, I have given application to close my demat account during Ist quarter of 2009, in the ICICI demat office which is located in Nellai Plaza, Tirunelveli. They also told me that it will be delinked. Subsequently the same was delinked from my account.

Further I have given application on 02.09.09, to close my SB account and I have handed over the ATM card and balance cheque leaves and asked me to take the balance amount from my account.

Now I have received a letter that I have to delink my Demat account from my SB account. I don’t know the confussion on this and make necessary action to close my SB account and also I am not responsible for any default.

    Espected quick reply.
I have not receivd any reply. This is worst service.
