If any application happens to have left out in the Add/Remove Program  after its uninstallation and  we need to remove it from there for any reason (1 is that if we wish to reinstall the program once again but the system is asking us to remove the existing one before)

We can easily do that by editing the registry. You should ensure to have taken the registry backup before editing the registry, if you have never played with it before.

Follow the steps as below:

  • Open registry by Start -> Run -> regedit and press Enter.

  • Navigate to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

  • The Add/Remove Programs list is built from the keys listed beneath the Uninstall folder.

  • Locate the key for the program that has been uninstalled, right click the key and click Delete

Note: You can see the details of the associated programs by clicking the keys in the left pane and looking at the information provided in the right pane.

Hope the above steps help you remove unwanted programs from Add/Remove.
