Increase RAM Without Adding a New One
If you also feel very poor speed of the system due to very low RAM and you also don’t wish to replace/add any more RAM then try doing following and you will certainly see the difference in CPU response time:
- Clean up the hard drives, specifically the one where the operating system has been installed.
- Increase the Page size of the Virtual Memory. A paging file is an area on the hard disk that windows uses as if it were RAM. Try doing following:
- Click Start and right click on My Computer to display System Properties.
- In the Advanced tab under Performance frame, select settings to display Performance Options.

- Now select the Advanced tab and click on Change under Virtual Memory frame.

- In the Virtual Memory window, select the drive where your windows is being installed.
- Select Custom size option and give in your inputs to make a part of your hard disk act as RAM.

- Update with click on button Set.
- Click on Apply and close it.
- Yo might need to restart the system before these changes come in effect.
That’s all what you need to do.
Hope it helps!!
