The most controversial and popular tweet in 2009 came from none other than our Mr. Twitter Minister, Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Shashi Tharoor who is also known as Twitteroor.

On 14th Sep 2009 at 11:47 AM, in reply to a tweet he wrote,

“absolutely, in cattle class out of solidarity with all our holy cows!“

It provoked a huge debate all over the nation. Mr. Tharoor was criticised over his this remark on Twitter after the Congress-led UPA Government decided to launch an austerity drive and advised Union Ministers to fly economy class.

Even Congress President Sonia Gandhi had to intervene and ask Mr. Minister to end all controversies over his remarks on social networking site Twitter. He had to later apologized for it after being clarifying the remark to everyone 1000s of time. He just saved his chair.
