After Delhi Traffic Police went online and featured in New York Times for using Technology (Facebook and SMSs precisely) in their day to day working (live traffic updates) like making users aware which roads to avoid, which to take and when via SMSs and thru their facebook and twitter accounts.

They are also using their facebook account for interacting with citizens of Delhi to upload photos of vehicles violating laws and taking actions against them and many more things like confessing etc.

On the similar lines Pune police also started the facebook page where they are not only educating Puneites about the laws but also making the discussions interactive and supportive.

They also started SMS service some time ago where they were sending SMSs to general people on special occasion.

But now they have a dedicated SMS service similar to Delhi Police where they will be sending regular traffic updates about  the city to the subscribed citizens of Pune.

• Alerts are available for all places in Pune.
• You can subscribe to this service by sending a SMS JOIN PTP to 09219592195
• Free SMS Alert will be sent to the subscriber’s registered mobile number by Traffic Control Room.
• You can unsubscribe by sending a SMS LEAVE PTP to 09219592195
• If you have activated DND for your number then you won’t get SMS alerts. To receive traffic alerts please send STOP DND to 1909.
