The new feature would enable subscribers to see their updated accounts online and keep a copy of it by downloading it.

Improtant thing to note is that the feature would be available only to live account holders and not to inoperative account holders. It is known that EPFO makes all those accounts inoperative where contribution is not made for 36 months in a row.

We will update you with a detailed post when this service is active.

Telecom consumers can now register complaints about wrongful activation of value added services (VAS) like mobile internet, caller tunes, Bhakti songs etc on a new common number, 155223, which is valid for all operators.

VAS-DeactivationThe good thing about the move is that the telecom operators will have to refund the amount charged for such activation of services if consumers inform about it within 24 hours on this common number.

Subscribers who have been using any value added services beyond 24 hours can also request for deactivation of service on this number. Telecom operator will have to deactivate service within four hours of getting phone call but the customer will not be eligible to claim refund in such cases.

The move has been put into effect after the TRAI refused leniency in such cases. Telecom operators jointly introduced the service on February 2.

As per the rule, operators will have to take consent of subscribers before activating any VAS and deactivate it without charging for it if no consent is received from them.

Public companies do declare their quarterly results which let the world know if the company is growing or weakening. But nobody is aware what the total employee strength of a private ltd company is and how it is performing.

This information about private limited companies has also come into public domain now and you can get various information about them. For e.g. Varying employee strength in the current financial year on monthly basis and an easy inference can be drawn whether the company is on the growth path or not.

You can also view how much total PF is being deposited by the company to EPFO in a specific month thus self-calculating the average salary of employees in that company. List of employees is also available to view all present employees with oldest employee first.

Here’s how you can view all this significant info:

  • From the listed company(ies), click on the payment icon against your organization.

  • You will be presented a list which will display a lot of info about the company in the current Financial year (or last 9-10 months)
    • You can view total amount deposited to EPFO as PF.
    • You can also view total number of employees in a particular month.
    • Clicking on the No. of Employee column, you can also view the list of all employees working in the company in that particular month.
    • Employees are listed in ascending order of their PF number i.e. oldest employee first.
    • From Total PF amount and Total employees, you can also calculate the average monthly salary of employees.

know-organization-info2 know-organization-info3

If we analyse this info for Infosys BPO, here’s the evaluation:

  • Infosys BPO grew from 16991 employees in March 2012 to 19421 employees in Dec 2012 i.e. 2430 employees rise in 9 months or 270 effective new joinees every month.
  • Rs 4 crore, 78 lacs, 27 thousand, 531 deposited as PF for 19421 employees
    • i.e. an average of  Rs 2,462 per employee or Rs 1,231 (50%) as Employee contribution.
    • Since PF is 12% of the basic salary, we can easily calculate average basic salary of a BPO employee in Infosys to Rs 10,261.
    • Considering basic to be 40% of the total monthly salary, we can say Rs 25,652 to be the average monthly salary of an employee in Infosys BPO in Dec 2012
    • Using the same calculation, average monthly salary of an employee in Infosys BPO in Mar 2012 was Rs 23,135 i.e. a hike of Rs 2,500 per month since Mar 2012 or around 10% hike.
  • Mr. Sheshadri B C is the oldest employee in Infosys BPO

Similar average monthly salary calculation for other companies comes out to be:

  • Wipro (DS/NHP/0023719/000) – Rs 13,198
  • SunGard (PU/PUN/0302957/000) – Rs 62,099
  • IBM (PY/KRP/0019214/000) – Rs 84,330
  • Google (AP/HYD/0047688/000) – Rs 1,21,128
  • Microsoft (AP/HYD/0035604/000) – Rs 2,14,551
  • Xchanging (GN/GGN/0025202/000) – Rs 43,766
  • Cognizant (PU/PUN/0121239/000) – Rs 75,083

  • RBS (GN/GGN/0025468/000) – Rs 1,14,094

Know Your Changed PF Number http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/10/know-your-changed-pf-number/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/10/know-your-changed-pf-number/#comments Tue, 09 Oct 2012 10:37:43 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=3489 If you are one of those who is trying to access services from EPFO to see their PF account details online but unable to do so because your PF account number that your establishment (company) tells you doesn’t match with the online service inputs, then following info might come to your rescue.

To know your new PF number:

  1. Visit either of the below links:
    2. search.epfoservices.in/est_search.php
  2. Select state and enter your establishment code. Establishment code is 7 or less digits number that is within your PF number that you are definitely aware of.
    • For e.g. if your PF number is KN/12345/678 then 12345 is the establishment code.

  3. Click Search and part of your new PF number would be displayed.
  4. There are other options too in the search that you can make use of to narrow down search.

So, if your old PF number was KN/16573/XXXXX then your new PF number is PY/BOM/16573/XXXXX

Hope this helps.

Here’s how you can do that. It is as simple as checking your emails:

  1. Visit members.epfoservices.in
  2. Create your account using your mobile number and one of the following document id. Personally, PAN would be good to use and remember. Account will be created instantly if you have your mobile with you.
  3. Login to your account using your created credentials.
  4. From the menu, select “Download E Passbook”
  5. Select your state and EPFO office where your account is.
  6. Enter your PF account number, Name (should match with the name in PF database) and captcha characters.
  7. You will receive a 4 digit PIN on your mobile.
  8. Enter PIN and click Get Detail.
  9. If your Passbook is available then a link to the PDF account statement would be displayed. You can click on it to view or download it for future reference.
  10. If your Passbook is not available then a message would be displayed and you can request for your passbook to be made available online.
  11. Your passbook should be available within 3 days of your request. You would be sent an SMS on your mobile for the same. (Note: I got the message after around a month, so 3 days would just not do)
  12. After you receive the intimation SMS, you can again login to your account and follow above steps again to download the statement.

That’s all !!! You have your passbook. Keep it for your records.

BJP’s Site Hacked Yet Again by Anonymous http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/09/bjps-site-hacked-yet-again-by-anonymous/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/09/bjps-site-hacked-yet-again-by-anonymous/#comments Wed, 19 Sep 2012 06:33:55 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=3460 India’s main opposition party Bhartiya Janta Party, BJP’s website was hacked yet again. It was hacked in May 2012 and is now hacked yet again. This time the site was displaying the Anonymous page for almost 10 hours. It is now back to normal.

Earlier when the site was hacked in May it was to protest Indian government’s effort to censor social media. That was soon followed by a number of protests by Indian citizens across India, as called for by the Anonymous – to tell the government that India will NOT let the government have its own way.

In a video message posted on the BJP website, Anonymous said that people need to stand up for themselves and for the country.

The hackers also posted a message against FDI in retail and price hike in fuel as well as pictures that allegedly show police brutality in the country. On the BJP website’s home page, Anonymous claimed it would launch an “Occupy India” movement against the government policies from September 23.

Here’s the full page screenshot when the site was hacked:

You could have checked the status online already but of no use when your status says Aadhaar card has been generated and sent but you not receiving it yet.

My status was “Card sent” from past 10 months but I never received it. But just now I got it instantly online and printed it too. Need to laminate it only.

Here’s how you too can get it and keep it for your records even when you have already got it’s physical copy.

  • If inputs are correct and validated, you will a receive a screen which would display last 4 chars of your phone number where you would receive an OTP (one time password) to authenticate yourself. You can click ‘Yes’ and continue.

  • Enter OTP received on your mobile number.

  • Download your Aadhaar card.

You can then print it and save it for future reference.

Note: You would need to enter your Pincode as password for opening the Aadhaar PDF.

E-filing of IT Returns Mandatory for Income Over Rs. 10 lakh http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/07/e-filing-of-it-returns-mandatory-for-income-over-rs-10-lakh/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/07/e-filing-of-it-returns-mandatory-for-income-over-rs-10-lakh/#comments Fri, 20 Jul 2012 05:10:30 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=3430 The Central Board of Direct Taxes has made e-filing of income-tax returns mandatory for all assessees whose annual earnings exceeded Rs. 10 lakh during the fiscal 2011-12.

With July 31 being the deadline for filing returns for the fiscal ended March 31, 2012, as per the CBDT notification, e-filing was made compulsory for the assessment year 2012-13 onwards, for an individual or a Hindu Undivided Family if the total income exceeded Rs. 10 lakh.

However, digital signature won’t be mandatory and these taxpayers, can also transmit the data in the return electronically, and thereafter submit verification of the return in Form ITR-V manually by mailing them the printed document.

E-filing by these taxpayer categories was optional till 2010-11, even than the Income Tax Department received 1.64-crore returns in electronic format during 2011-12.

Currently, business houses with receipts of Rs. 60 lakh and professionals with an income of Rs. 15 lakh are mandatorily required to e-file their returns with digital signature.

The electronically filed returns are processed at the Centralised Processing Centre in Bangalore. The processing of e-filed return is faster, and taxpayers get their refunds, if due, quickly. The Department also provides some value-added services like monitoring of refunds, viewing tax credit status (Form 26AS), e-mail and message alerts on the status of processing, and refunds.

As on March 31, 2012, there were 19,684,592 taxpayers who had registered for e-filing.

Paisa Bolta Hai : Detect Fake Currency Notes http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/07/paisa-bolta-hai-detect-fake-currency-notes/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/07/paisa-bolta-hai-detect-fake-currency-notes/#comments Sun, 08 Jul 2012 10:20:11 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=3417 Identifying a fake currency note has never been a laymen’s task. It is either the machines or the banking personnel who deals with currency day & night. There has been a lot of awareness about it but all in vain.

Reserve Bank of India has now come in front themselves to spread the awareness about fake currency notes and how to identify them. A website has been launched explaining ways to detect counterfeit notes.

As per the records, 398,111 notes were detected as fake in FY 2008-09 and it has grown up to 435,607 in just 2 years.

Here’s to explain the features of  a Rs 1000 note and we can ourselves detect the fake ones using these.

Similarly, there are visual presentations with pointers on currency notes of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 rupee denominations at  www.paisaboltahai.rbi.org.in, launched by RBI with a tagline  ‘Pehchano Paise Ki Boli, Kyunki Paisa Bolta Hai’.

Consumers have the option to download posters of these currency notes, which can be used as reference to identify counterfeit notes.

Here’s the TV commercial of Paisa bolta hai campaign by RBI.

Citibank Internet Banking with a User ID http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/07/citibank-internet-banking-with-a-user-id/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2012/07/citibank-internet-banking-with-a-user-id/#comments Fri, 06 Jul 2012 07:39:51 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=3409 It has always been damn inconvenient to access your Citibank online account using the 16 digit ATM/Debit card / Credit Card / Loan ID etc. But now Citibank is enhancing their website shortly to offer User ID based login, in place of the existing 16 digit ATM/Debit Card / Credit Card / Loan ID based login.

No more hassles of remembering our 16 digit card number or Loan ID. One single common User ID and IPIN to access Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and for online purchase authentications.

We would be able to login to Citibank Online from any computer with the same User ID, unlike the existing nickname feature which never seemed to work for me.

This feature will be added in the second week of July, and then onwards when we access Citibank Online, we will be guided to select a User ID of our choice through a simple process, so no action needed right now.

Please keep in mind that after this feature, we will be able to login to Citibank Online only with this new User ID.
