Co-owners Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla revealed the new logo recently. But will the new logo bring good fortune to the team as KKR is the only team who haven’t done good in 4 earlier seasons.

But it was not just the logo and jersey which changed. SRK’s also get his team’s marketing slogan changed to “New Dawn and New Knights”.

If changing the logo and slogan bring happiness to the owners then it’s a good move else it will end up being another money wasting exercise on their part.

Let’s wait and watch how they perform in IPL5 which is scheduled in April 2012.

“I see my mate @yuvsingh09 is out the Tests.. No more chicken & mushrooms or steak & ales for me now. Pity! They tasted good in Notts! ha ha”

After this taunting from Pieterson, Yuvraj without wasting any time replied by writing:

“@kevinpp24 hahaha..dont worry il be back with a new indian veg pie for you very soon !!”

Yuvraj might have reminded KP of the term ‘Pie Chucker’ that Pieterson called Yuvraj during 2008-09 series. They are not in good terms since then.

Poonam Pandey, some Kingfisher model, has promised to go NUDE in public if India wins the world cup 2011 whose final is planned to be played in Mumbai on 2nd April 2011.

Does it really matter to any of us who are genuine fans and want our Indian team to win rather some unknown lady stripping unnecessarily??

This looks to be a pure publicity stunt. Some Poonam Pandey, whose name we never heard suddenly became limelight and trending all over internet, news channels, page 3 tv channels and news papers. She is definitely trying to take advantage of Indian team reaching to the finals.

In Hindi we say “Behti Ganga mein haath dhona” i.e “making hay while the sun shines”. She must have definitely thought of that and almost succeeded doing that. One example: me writing this post.

India will definitely win this match but this cheap publicity on a big occasion. Who cares?? India doesn’t have time Ms Pandey. So Sorry!!

She is trending everywhere. Be it Google trends, Twitter India or Facebook.

Theme songs of the world cup have already made their way to the top.

Missing any of the match is like missing a crucial encounter full of entertainment till the last ball is bowled. Yes, till now more than 80% of the matches have thrilling finishes. The result of the match came just in the last over and on the last ball most of the time.

It’s time for knock out quarterfinals to begin soon where final 4 from Group A has already been decided but from Group B 5 teams are striving hard to be in final 4 and India is one of them.

You don’t want to miss matches when you are on the go, i.e. not in front of your TV sets. Either you are working or doing something else or for that matter you don not have access to live broadcasters of the matches viz. ESPN, Star Sports.

Checking scores online is a good alternative but it does not offer such excitement that comes watching it live.

ESPN Star brings telecast of all the matches online to you absolutely free. You don’t have to spend a single penny to watch it online. Although you should have a internet access.

Just visit www.espnstar.com/cwclive and watch all matches online at no cost. You can watch simultaneous matches just like changing the channel on your TV. Click ICC Live Streaming Live 2 and Live 1.

You would notice ads all round the page but you can avoid them by maximizing the video screen. Awesome, isn’t it?

One of the best source these days is thousands of apps available for different operating systems, be it android, RIM, iOS or any other. And believe me they are getting huge popularity as huge majority has smart phones running these apps nowadays.

Even International Cricket Council (ICC) released their official app for iPhone for the smartest gadget users to know scores anytime anywhere, and within a week of its release it is at the top of free apps in the Apple App store.

Other than it, over all 3 apps are in top 10 i.e. downloaded most. Other apps are ESPNcricinfo and NDTV Cricket.

Cricket’s New Statistics Era http://www.nkjlive.com/2011/02/crickets-new-statistics-era/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2011/02/crickets-new-statistics-era/#comments Thu, 17 Feb 2011 14:57:16 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=2433 From last 10 years or so we have been seeing ICC cricket rankings in all forms of cricket varying from Test, ODIs and T20s now categorized in batsmen, bowlers, fielders, team etc.

Ranking goes up and down after every match. Players scoring runs get more points then players with low scores. Similarly with bowlers and with teams. We have seen Australia ruling the team rankings for about a decade with few others coming to top for few weeks.

ICC cricket rankings have been the only source of seeing player’s performance so far.

But, Impact Index have landed to redefine the cricket statistics with their new methodology and algorithms which have gained not only popularity but also acknowledgment from the media and authorities.

impact index logo sports Crickets New Statistics Era

They define it as:

Impact Index is a statistical system that is based on the hard black and white figures on the score-sheet page. Nothing outside of that. And it uses all that information in a holistic way. More than a complicated stats system with intimidating algorithms, Impact Index is more a new way of looking at cricket scorecards and using that information to account for match conditions, strength of opposition, crunch performances and series/tournament defining performances.

Impact Index, simply put, measures the performance of every player in every match on a scale of 0 to 5.

The most important thing about Impact Index is unlike other stat systems, it is a completely transparent system. You can yourself understand their methodology.

So far they have only come up with the ODI rankings based upon the ODI records from 1971 to 2010 (ODI matches period).

cricket batsman bowler keeper sports Crickets New Statistics Era

Joel Garner of West Indies is at the top of ODI great bowlers list with Impact index of 2.35 followed by Shane Bond, Glen McGrath, Murlitharan and Brett Lee. Only Indian in the top 20 is Harbhajan Singh at 17th position proving they are not India-biased as majority of stat systems these days are.

In ODI great batsmen list, Viv Richards of West Indies is leading with Impact Index 2.6 followed by Dean Jones, Gordon Greenidge, Sachin Tendulkar and Hayden.

In greatest ODI players ranking, Sir Viv Richards is again on the top followed by Imran Khan and Richard Hadlee. From India, Kapil Dev, Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar are in the list at 9th, 13th and 18th position respectively. It looks  like Sachin Tendulkar still needs to improvise.

Over all a great effort by the Impact Index team and wish them all the best. Hope they stay here longer.

CommonWealth Games 2010 Delhi finally came to an end with a huge praise from all over the world. All Commonwealth countries were really happy the way the games have been conducted in the city, contrary to what they have believed from the media reports before the beginning of the games on 3rd October 2010.

Games caught the eye ball when lot of criticism happened because of the delay in preparations and deep corruptions. But let’s not talk about them now as they have been successfully held with very less spectators though.

Thanks India for making it a mega event. We can now easily go for the 2020 Olympics bidding. We have the potential.

Here are some of the snaps of the closing event followed by the final medal tally. India not only finished second in the list but also crossed the 100 medal jinx.

Let us take a look at a few of the unfortunate ones to miss out, as the month long “Fiesta Del Fútbol” Kicks off in exactly a week’s time.

There has rarely been a World Cup when managers have not been criticized or scrutinized for Squad Selection by fans and followers alike. This year was no different. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration if one were to say that this edition will have more deserving players missing out than any of the past World Cups. Here are a few major omissions with Argenitna coach Diego Maradona grabbing most of the headlines along with his Italian and French counterparts Marcelo Lippi and Raymond Domenech.

Javier Zanetti:

Javier Zanetti1 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

A mammoth 136 caps for  the Albiceleste, captain of Argentina before ‘El Diego’ took over as  coach, a rock solid season for Inter winning the treble including The Champions League on his record 700th appearance for the club. Not Enough?
His performances along with fellow compatriots Diego Milito and Esteban Cambiasso were nothing short of extraordinary and he played a pivotal part in Inter’s road to glory this season. “Il Trattore” has enough on his resume to be in any country’s final 23 but somehow Diego Maradona seems to think otherwise.

Esteban Cambiasso:

Esteban Cambiasso sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

I long to know what Esteban Cambiasso did to offend Diego Maradona to an extent that he didn’t include him even in his provisional list of 30. Was it the decisive spot kick he missed against Germany  in 2006 Quarter Final which led to Argentina’s defeat? But then he scored arguably one of the most memorable goals in a World Cup capping off a brilliant passing display involving 24 passes. On a more serious note, Cambiasso couldn’t have played any better all season. A wall in Inter’s midfield , he would be any manager’s delight. Pairing up with captain Javier Mascheranho he could very well have formed one of the most formidable Midfield lineups of the tournament.

Juan Roman Riquelme:

Juan Roman Riquelme sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

It is sad to imagine a World Cup without the Argentine playmaker who was awarded the title of The Most Artistic player by a popular Spanish newspaper during his playing time at Villarreal. He reportedly made himself unavailable for National Selection after Maradona’s arrival due to ‘El Diego’’s alleged criticism of his game. Riquelme, who is known to be highly sensitive about criticism, had quit for the first time after the 2006 World Cup.

Samir Nasri:

Samir Nasri 224x300 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

Raymond Domenech has seemed to attract more criticism than applauds for his work with Les Bleus. The Inclusion of the unstable Abou Diaby instead of fellow Arsenal talisman Nasri is a clear example that managers have opted for a more physical approach rather than going for the skills his year. Samir Nasri has scored some magnificent goals for Arsenal this season and helped create even more with some magical display of his abilities.

Karim Benzema:

Karim Benzema 300x239 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

If Real Madrid pay 35 Million Euros for a player , he HAS to be special. Making his France debut at the age of just 20, he got his name on the score sheet in his very first game. The only reason for his exclusion can be his not-so-impressive first season with Real Madrid, most of which could be attributed to the fact that he was relegated to the bench for the most part.
Despite all that, Benzema is phenomenally talented and could have proved to be the ingredient  that France need to spice up their attack.

Benni McCarthy:

Benni McCarthy 239x300 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

South Africa’s record goal scorer with more than 30 goals to his name was left out by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira much to the shock of home fans. The reason for his exclusion was  not being in good shape as compared to other players fighting for a spot in the squad. Still, regarded by many as the greatest ever striker to play for the Bafana Bafana, his experience could only have done his country good.

Marcos Senna:

Marcos Senna 300x199 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

La Furia Roja have the best Midfielders in the world in Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and Xabi Alonso. The only reason I did not name Marcos Senna amongst them is because Coach Vicente Del Bosque didn’t think he was good enough to be there. Personally, I reckon him as a solid player who can change the course of a game on his own. His remarkable performances in Spain’s success in Euro 2008 are no secret to anyone. He was even regarded as the player of the tournament by many. At 33, this would have been his last world cup but the likes of Sergio Busquets and Javi Martinez, who recently earned his first cap against South Korea, surely have many more to follow.

Fabio Grosso:

Fabio Grosso sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

Marcelo Lippi, Diego Maradona and Raymond Domenech . They all have one thing in common. They have made bold and shocking decisions while making their list of final 23 players inviting criticism from all over the world. Fabio Grosso’s antics in Germany 2006 are still etched in the memory of every Azzuri fan. From winning the decisive penalty against Australia in stoppage time, to scoring the winner against Germany in Extra Time and finally scoring the decisive spot kick in the Penalty Shoot out against France in the final. Grosso had a fairy tail of a World Cup. He was used throughout Italy’s qualifying campaign for South Africa 2010 featuring heavily with some good performances but was controversially left out of the final squad. Using a player throughout qualifying and NOT selecting him for the final showpiece in South Africa is simply beyond my comprehension.

Fabzrizio Miccoli:

Fabzrizio Miccoli 242x300 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

What exactly has Fabio Quagliarella done that Fabrizio Miccoli hasn’t? If we are talking about missing clear cut chances, losing footing in goal scoring situations and doing everything else than actually managing to SCORE , then Quagliarella deserves his place. Miccoli,on the other hand, has had a spectacular season with Palermo inspiring them to a 5th place finish in the Serie A scoring an impressive 19 goals. The same can be said about Palermo’s Antonio Cassano who also had a good season with Sampdoria helping them finish in the top 4. Bases on club performances Miccoli and Cassano deserve to be in the  Azzure Blue of Italy at the tournament much more than Quagliarella who had a lackluster season with Napoli.

Theo Walcott:

Theo Walcott 300x255 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

Shockingly included in England’s squad for the last World Cup at just 17 years of age, he is a player with sublime talent. However, he was not to be that lucky this time around as he faced strong competition from Tottenham’s Aaron Lennon who has virtually made the number 7 jersey his own. A worthy successor to Beckham,Lennon probably had one of the best seasons with Spurs this year guiding them to Champion’s League Football. Walcott was overlooked in favour of Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips in what could have been a 50-50 decision.Fabio Capello chose to go with the much more experienced Wright-Phillips who had quite a satisfying season at the Eastlands.

Ronaldinho 225x300 sports FIFA 2010: Stars Whod Be Cheering From Home This Year

One of the most gifted footballers on the planet possessing the ability to do with the ball what no one on the entire planet can. It’s a TREAT to watch the Brazilian play at the peak of his game. Many around the world wrote him off when Barcelona sold him to AC Milan for a sum of around £15 million. His performances for Barcelona had dipped drastically causing various pundits to make claims that he was ageing. Proving all his critics wrong, he came back this season, stronger than ever, bringing in various commanding performances for Milan in their midfield. Ronaldinho’s skill and flair will surely be missed in South Africa.

Yes surely it needs a good amount of time to prepare you to grasp the attention of blue eyed women in the IPL party nights.cricket loss thoughtworks sports india IPL Vs Nations Pride

Other says it’s MONEY which has been the decisive factor for the great or poor show by our honorable PLAYBOYS.  In IPL it’s all in Millions while in international cricket it crunches to mere thousands only.

I think here I have been able to reveal the reason behind the poor show of the poor country. Now a notion has erupted whether it’s MONEY Vs NATION or MONEY Over NATION. Whatever it may be, but surely it’s now IPL Vs NATIONS PRIDE.

Castrol Index for Cricket http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/05/castrol-index-for-cricket/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/05/castrol-index-for-cricket/#comments Fri, 29 May 2009 08:41:22 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=863 Castrol Index for Cricket — an analytical tool that objectively analyses player and team performances, and provides unique insights that enhance understanding and enjoyment of the game was launched by Castrol India here today.

The Castrol Index seems to be a great tool to analyze performances in the shorter versions of the game. You can spend hours on the site, using the Index to compare performances of individual players and teams. It should also be quite a useful tool to players wanting an in depth analysis on what leads to a winning performance.

The Castrol Index which is specifically developed for the shorter versions of the game (T20 and ODIs), takes into account all aspects of the player’s game i.e. batting, bowling and fielding. Players in the shorter formats are required to perform in all departments of the game, not just in their specialized skill or core areas and the Castrol Index therefore takes into consideration the players all round performance. The Index offers statistics, insights, information and knowledge, which helps fans easily understand what it takes to create a winning performance.

The Castrol Index tracks both player and team performances separately. It enables fans to track their favourite team’s or player’s all-round cumulative performance or even compare two teams or players on the basis of their performance in various aspects of the game.

Read more about it.
