Why Can Only Bing Subtract? http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/08/why-can-only-bing-subtract/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/08/why-can-only-bing-subtract/#comments Tue, 25 Aug 2009 18:49:13 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=1142 Wondering what I am talking about? Yes you are right, Google, Yahoo, Ask are unable to perform a simple subtract operation whereas Bing can successfully do it without any doubt.

When I try an operation 999999999999999 – 999999999999998::

Bing returns 1:

Google returns 0:

Yahoo returns 2:

Ask returns 2:

It is clear that though Google, Yahoo are leading the search industry, they lack the basic gist which Bing is reaching. Bing will really go a long way.

Yahoo Geocities Closing Down http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/08/yahoo-geocities-closing-down/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/08/yahoo-geocities-closing-down/#comments Mon, 24 Aug 2009 12:24:47 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=1129 Yes that’s true, Yahoo Geocities is closing down.

See the official message at the official Yahoo site:

To answer why they are closing it down, yahoo said:

“We have enjoyed hosting web sites created by Yahoo! users all over the world, and we’re proud of the community you’ve built.

However, we have decided to focus on helping our customers explore and build relationships online in other ways. Beginning on October 26, 2009, you will no longer be able to use GeoCities to maintain a presence online — but we’re excited about the other services we have designed to help you connect with friends and family and share your activities and interests.”

Yahoo 360 Closing Down in July http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/05/yahoo-360-closing-down-in-july/ http://www.nkjlive.com/2009/05/yahoo-360-closing-down-in-july/#comments Sat, 30 May 2009 01:57:18 +0000 http://www.nkjlive.com/?p=877 More than 18 months after first saying that Yahoo 360 would close, the company has finally announced a date: July 13, 2009.

Why the delay? Yahoo’s announcement says they’ve been looking for a way to preserve its users’ content:

“Before we could retire 360, we had to find a sustainable and adequate solution for your personal information. We know how important your blog entries and profile information is to each of you, and we wanted to be able to maintain the integrity of this content.”

Yahoo 360 users will be able to blog on the recently beefed up Yahoo Profiles, or can use an export tool that Yahoo has created to allow users to move content to other popular blogging platforms like WordPress, MoveableType, and Blogger.

Though I never used Yahoo 360 for blogging myself but this is not a good news for those who have been using this tool aggressively to blog for so long.
