We will quickly tell you the steps:

1. Download Filezilla ftp client (Direct Link), if no other ftp utility present. It is quick and easy to use.
2. Login to ftp of your current hosting provider and download all the files.
3. Create /Add the domain to your new hosting provider, if not already done.
4. Login to ftp of your new hosting provider and upload all the files to new domain folder.
5. Files have been uploaded, now is the turn of database.
6. Login to MySQL of your current hosing provider and export the complete database as sql script and one with only tables.
7. Login to MySQL of your new hosting provider and import the database sql and execute it.
8. If the database creation fails because of the lack of permission of database creation from MySQL interface, then login to the control panel of your new hosting provider and create a new database.
9. From MySQL execute the script which contains only tables and data.
10. Your database is also done now.
11. Now go to the file in new hosting ftp libs\dbconnect.php and update the new database information. Host may remain same (localhost) but db name, user id and password may change.
12. Now you need to change the nameservers of the domain in your domain controller.
13. I think you are done.

And you know, I later searched it and found an article on Pligg that explains everything in details but I did it myself without its reference. Its damn simple.

After successfully jail breaking and unlocking my iPhone 3G with iOS 4.0 using the direct links to all required applications, I stuck up on having my GPRS not working. I am using Airtel SIM card (India).

The settings were automatically updated when I was on iOS 3.1.2 but with iOS 4.0 there seem to be some problem.

Anyways, I am not here to discuss problems in OS 4.0 rather solutions or temporary work around.

I looked into my iPhone completely but I could not find the “Cellular Data Network” setting under “Settings > General > Network  >” so could not manually update the GPRS or APN settings.

I started Googling and found out a link using which I could make the “Cellular Data Network” visible. But none of them worked for me. I did not have GPRS working so I could not download Cydia application and/or go to the unlockit.co.nz link. I also tried using Cyder 2 to install the APN Editing application but in vain. Nothing seemed to work for me. Modifying the plist file also seemed quite a work. (Reference Link)

Somebody told me to insert Reliance GSM SIM card once and it will make the setting visible (seem to be some flaw in the Reliance GSM card) but I did not have that so another nonviable option for me.

I continued Googling and found out another link using which I could modify the APN settings without having to have it visible. That’s by using iPhone Configuration Utility 2.2 (Reference Link)

I immediately downloaded the utility and installed it on my laptop and modified the APN settings and installed the configuration profile on my iPhone and GPRS started working on my iPhone. (You may need to restart your iPhone)

Happiest man on the earth once again.

Make note of following things:

• Ensure to mention both Name and Identifier under General section as both are mandatory fields.

• For Airtel India only airtelgprs.com is required in the Access Point Name (APN) field.

• For troubleshooting just look into Devices/<phone>/Console for error messages.

I will only share my story of how I jailbroke and unlocked my iPhone and what all hindrances I faced and how to overcome all those to finally have iOS 4.0 on your iPhone 3G.

It may save you $50+ as professional hackers are charging to do it.

I was happily using iPhone 3.1.2 before I tried upgrading to 3.1.3 and got my phone locked. Later I came to know that the baseband had also been upgraded and it was not possible to downgrade it or jailbreak/ unlock it. I had not option but to wait for iPhone OS 4.0.

The wait was quite long (1.5 months) but fruitful I must say.

Ever since iPhone OS 4.0 released, I was eagerly waiting for the iPhone Dev team to create the jailbreak and unlock tools for iOS 4.0 and as soon as the message came that redsn0w beta and ultrasn0w 0.93 has been released, I picked up my iPhone and started trying it.

(Forgot to mention that I also contacted a professional hacker who was charging 50$ for the unlock but I thought of trying myself at least once. And see I am successful on my first time )

I started Googling, the best thing I do, about iPhone’s unlock and jailbreak. I referred to www.blogsdna.com for majority of things.

I downloaded iOS 4.0 and Redsn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5.

My laptop had iTunes9.0 so I thought of using that one only and tried restoring iOS 4.0 but it failed with an error “iPhone can’t be restored, unkonown error (13)“. I tried it number of times but in vain. Then I downloaded iTuens9.2 and installed it.

I then successfully restored iOS4.0 on my iPhone manually. (Reference article)

After it completed, I got “No SIM card installed. Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone” message, that means I was on right track till that moment.

I then ran redsn0w and jailbroke my iPhone 3G. (Reference article)

And the happiest moment came when I could see my iPhone starting up and I could see it working. I was the happiest man on earth at that particular moment.

I immediately inserted my SIM in the phone but it was not detecting the SIM so it had to be unlocked also. (Reference article)

I was only anticipating that it might work

To unlock it, I had to install Ultrasn0w 0.93 from the Cydia but the problem with me was I could not download it from the Cydia on my iPhone as I did not have access to either GPRS (obviously) or WiFi, so I started Googling again and fortunately found an article to do it using my laptop.

I downloaded an application Cyder on my laptop using which I installed Ultrasn0w on my iPhone. (Reference article)

As the article suggested, I had to restart my iPhone twice to make it working and it really worked for me. And I became the proud owner of iOS 4.0 on my iPhone 3G.

This is how I got my phone jailbroke and unlocked. Hope this is useful for everyone who are novice like me and would love to save money too.

I never knew it would be so easy to do that. Let’s see how I did it so that you can also do it as quickly as I did:

Download and Install latest version of Apple iTunes which is 9.0 (when writing), if possible, because with previous versions you will have to modify settings in iTunes to get it worked.

You must also have iPhone 3.0 for following settings.

• Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
• Go to General –> Network
• Locate “Internet Tethering” and turn it ON.

• You may receive an alert that your BlueTooth is not switched on, for which you can either switch it on or leave it as is.
• You should now connect your iPhone to your laptop.
• Your iPhone will display a blue background banner on different screens to indicate that tethering is active and running as shown below.

• I did not have to do anything on my laptop (other than installing latest iTunes)
• I then opened up my web browser and tried google.com and to my surprise it worked.
• This was damn simple.

Now I can surf unlimited internet for just Rs 98. You may not get best speed but it is not bad either.

• Login to your Youtube account.
• Go on to upload video page, upload.youtube.com/my_videos_upload.
• You will notice a button “Record from Webcam”. Click on it.

• You will be asked to give permission to youtube to access your web camera. Select Allow and click close. You may select remember to make your browser save the option.

• Now you are ready to record a video directly from your web cam. Click on Ready to Record button.

• Keep recording it until you want. Click on Stop (red square) button to stop recording.

Every author on your blog is identified by a unique name which is generally the first name appended by middle and last name. If you are not aware of the user name, then navigate to www.yourblog.com/wp-admin/users.php. You will see a list of users’ blogging on your blog.

The first column of the list is the user name.

You now know user names of all your user bloggers.

Now you need to know how to get feed from a specific user. No plugin, no modifications anywhere. WordPress supports it by default.

You can access all posts feed from a specific user by accessing the url similar to:

www.yourblog.com/author/<username>/feed

For e.g. www.nkjlive.com/author/ankitjain/feed will display all posts published by Ankit Jain at NKJ Live.

Having identified the feed, you can now go to your feedburner account (whichever feed burner tool you use) and burn the feed to give a simpler look feeds.feedburner.com/nkjliveAnkitJain or if you have read my previous article on how to promote your website name in the feed address then you can even give feed address as feeds.nkjlive.com/nkjliveAnkitJain.

That’s it. You are done. Your authors can now use this feed to display their posts on their own blog or anywhere they wish to. You can even configure to display adsense ads on the feed and share revenue.

If yes, then let me suggest you a way to use your own website feed address i.e. instead of having feeds.feedburner.com/nkjlive you can have feeds.nkjlive.com/nkjlive. We can remove the word feedburner from the feed.

Isn’t it an amazing thing to have? You can even have one common address for all your feeds, the way we use e.g. feeds.nitinkumarjain.in/nkjlive, feeds.nitinkumarjain.in/forumvorum, feeds.nitinkumarjain.in/anugoonj etc.

But to do this you should have access to your DNS account of your domain name. Continue reading if you already have it else go back to your domain manager and ask them to give you access to it.

It is only a minute’s job.

• Go to your manage DNS tool.

• Add a new custom CNAME DNS record having following values:

Name: feeds (you can use any name that you want, it will be the name that comes before your website name i.e. it acts like a subdomain name e.g. feeds.nkjlive.com)

Type: Select record type as CNAME.

Value: Enter “1xifgn8.feedproxy.ghs.google.com.” in the value box. (Notice the last dot in the value)

Above is the Dreamhost DNS management system as an example. You must have similar names if not the same UI in your DNS management tool also.

That is it. You are done.

Now you can access your feeds as feeds.yourdomain.com/feedID instead of feeds.feedburner.com/feedID.

Actually, I have an aspx page in my Dot Net project and it has only 2 controls on it. One is textbox and another one is submit button to search the content.

The HTML code of the page looks like:

<asp:TextBox ID="a"  runat="server"/>
<asp:Button ID="test"  PostBackUrl="Default.aspx?CMD=Add" Text="Add" runat="server"/>

(I have skipped the html and other common tags for easy reading.)

Now, ideally, when the user keys in some value in the textbox and hit <enter> on the keyboard then the submit button click should be executed, but it does not. Though the page is posted back but nothing happens.

Strange thing is that the problem occurs only when there is a single textbox control on the page. If I add another textbox on the page then it works like a butter.

I am running .Net framework 2.0 and VS2005.

After googling it for a while, I discovered that it is not a problem with Dot Net framework or studio but a known problem with browser IE.

Basically, IE doesn’t send the name/value pair on postback when only one textbox exists. However, it does for >1 textboxes.

So, to make it run we can add a hidden textbox as a workaround and it works good then. Read an article on 4GuysFromRolla.

Strange but true. Known bug but nothing has been done to fix it yet.

2. Increase the Page size of the Virtual Memory. A paging file is an area on the hard disk that windows uses as if it were RAM. Try doing following:
   • Click Start and right click on My Computer to display System Properties.
   • In the Advanced tab under Performance frame, select settings to display Performance Options.
     
   • Now select the Advanced tab and click on Change under Virtual Memory frame.
     
   • In the Virtual Memory window, select the drive where your windows is being installed.
   • Select Custom size option and give in your inputs to make a part of your hard disk act as RAM.
     
   • Update with click on button Set.
   • Click on Apply and close it.
   • Yo might need to restart the system before these changes come in effect.

That’s all what you need to do.

The reason for this is that Excel, by default, sends each worksheet individually. Hence, pages 1 through 4 are sent, then 1 through 4 are sent again, and again, until all 3 sets have been printed.

Printing speed can be improved by turning off collating on our printout. This means that page 1 would be printed 3 times, then page 2, 3 times, and similarly other 2 sheets.

Follow these to turn off collating in Excel:

• Choose Print from the File menu.
• In the Print dialog box, ensure that the Collate check box is cleared.
• Select desired number of copies and click on OK.

Reason as explained before is that with collation turned off, Excel sends only a single copy of each page, along with a command that tells how many copies of each page to print. It is clear from the above image too.

This can really prove to be handy when printing multiple copies of sheet containing multiple sheets.

The main cause of the the problem is the file with extension suo in the same folder where the project file is lying.

This file actually contains all the debug points put in within the solution. You must have also noticed that when you put break points in the project and save it and reopen it, all break points are retained. This credit goes to the suo file which contains all break points.

So while debugging the project on every statement it loads the suo file to check the breakpoints and you can imagine loading a file having size more than 1 mb again and again would definitely take a lot of time and that is the reason why debugging works slow.

The best and the fastest sloution is to delte that suo file. It does not impact the solution or project file or code as such but you will loose all break points. This file will be created again when loaded next time.

If you don’t want to loose breakpoints but still want to reduce the size then you should manually remove the breakpoints and save the project/solution.

This would definitely help in reducing the debug time.

Memo:

• On the right Pane, check if see a value name: DumpsterAlwaysOn
• If Yes, set its value to 1.
• If No, then add the following registry value: Data type: DWORD Value data: 1
• Close registry.

After you have done that, you can now see an additional option in Microsoft Outlook.

• Navigate to Tools –> Deleted Item Recovery

All deleted mails in the last few days shall be available.

Run “explorer.exe /n,/e,<desired folder>” from command line.

e.g. run “explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\Windows\” for setting my explorer start up folder as C:\Windows.

There are more options available for the same.

Syntax

EXPLORER.EXE [/n][/e][,/root,  ][[,/select],]

Switches:

/n:

Opens a new window in single-paned (My Computer) view for each item selected, even if the new window duplicates a window that is already open.

/e:

Uses Windows Explorer view. Windows Explorer view is most similar to File Manager in Windows version 3.x. Note
that the default view is Open view.

/root,(object):

Specifies the root level of the specified view. The default is to use the normal namespace root (the desktop). Whatever is specified is the root for the display.

/select,(sub object):

Specifies the folder to receive the initial focus. If “/select” is used, the parent folder is opened and the specified object is selected.

DSPLIB – This command displays the names and attributes of all the objects present in a given library

Eg: DSPLIB LIB(UNMNXM)

WRKOBJ – This command lists all the libraries in the library list in which the specified object is present.

Eg: WRKOBJ OBJ(USHSREP) OBJTYPE(*FILE)

WRKOBJ OBJ(*ALL/USHSREP) OBJTYPE(*FILE)

This lists all the libraries present on the system in which the object is present.

WRKSBMJOB – This command lists the names and status information of all the jobs submitted by a particular user.

Eg: WRKSBMJOB *JOB

This displays all the jobs submitted by the current AS400 session.

WRKSPLF – This command lists all the spool files present on the system for a particular user.

SHIFT + F6, takes you to the bottom of the list from where you can take option 5 to display the spool file.

WRKACTJOB - This command displays all the active jobs in the server. The CPU usage of the server is also displayed. You have to refresh (F5) to know the current status.

Shift + Esc, 3 (on the blue line that appears at the bottom of the screen), Enter – This command displays the attributes of the job including the job name, number and user.

Shift + Esc, 2 (on the blue line that appears at the bottom of the screen), Enter – This is used to stop any interactive process which is active at this moment and needs to be ended immediately.

STRSQL - This command is used to start the SQL editor.

WRKJOBQ - This command lists all the job queues.

DSPDTAARA - This command displays the value of a given data area.

Eg: DSPDTAARA DTAARA(UNMNXM/UTLLRYA1)

CHGDTAARA - This command enables you to change the value of any data area.

Eg: CHGDTAARA DTAARA(UNMNXM/UTLLRYA1) VALUE(’1′)

DSPFD - This command lists the details of the file.

Eg: DSPFD FILE(UNMNXM/USHSREP)

DSPFFD - This command lists the details of all the fields present in the file

Eg: DSPFFD FILE(UNMNXM/USHSREP)

WRKOBJLCK - This command enables the user to see all the locks that are present on any object.

Eg: You can check the names of all the AS400 sessions and the GUI session in which you are logged in, through your profile using the following command.

WRKOBJLCK OBJ(UNMNXM) OBJTYPE(*USRPRF)

RUNQRY - This command is used to query a file. The format of this command is

RUNQRY *N UNMNXM/USHSREP.

If you also wish to select records, the command should be

RUNQRY *N UNMNXM/USHSREP RCDSLT(*YES)

DSPLIBL - This command lists all the libraries present in the library list. This also includes the system libraries.

EDTLIBL - This command enables the user to edit the library list. Please note that only user libraries can be added or removed. No changes can be made to the system libraries.

Function key F9 allows you to retrieve the last entered command on the command line

(NOTE: This will only retrieve the command you have executed from the time you have started the AS/400 session)

What is P-Code?

When pressing the Start button in the Visual Basic IDE, the Visual Basic compiles each line into P-Code and interprets it. This is much faster than Native Code in the IDE circumstance. By choosing to compile your software into P-Code, Visual Basic will store that code into an EXE where it will be interpreted line by line for the rest of its life

What is Native Code?

Native Code came out with Visual Basic 6.0. Running Native code is much faster than running P-Code in an exe case. When compiling to Native Code, Visual Basic compiles your software into the instruction set of the processor chip on your system

1.      Using Friend Function with Implements Does Not Work in P-Code

2.      Order of Evaluation Change between Native Code and P- Code (Visual Basic does not guarantee the order of evaluation in expressions when programs are compiled to native code with optimizations)

3.      Visual Basic does not evaluate Byte data type correctly in the “IF” expression when compiled to Native code with optimizations.

4.      P-code applications are usually smaller (and slower) than native code.

1. Don’t lose focus. It is very easy to be motivated when starting a new project. It is not so easy to maintain that same vigor and energy a few months into it. Become a good finisher, not just a good starter.
2. Don’t rush in. Remember, the sooner you start, the later you finish. Improper planning costs you big throughout the life of a project. Don’t succumb to pressure to just start cranking away without following basic project management methodologies.
3. Don’t always say yes. Trying to include all of the functionality up front is a recipe for cooking up an over-budget and over-the-deadline project with a side order of negative ROI. Learn to be selective. It is an art, and one that you will get better at with time. Show the project sponsor the critical components that need to be included, and let them know why you wish to exclude the non-essentials. It is usually the seemingly small non-essentials that can cost you the most time and money.
4. Don’t take sides in a political battle. Stay neutral. ‘Nuff said.
5. Don’t forget to communicate. If communication is not your strong point, find someone on the project team who is good at it. If you usually get knee-deep in the technical aspects of the project, it is easy to ignore the communication issues. Make sure you or someone you trust is keeping the right people informed.
6. Don’t put the wrong people in the wrong roles. An apple is still an apple, even if you color it orange and put a Sunkist sticker on it.
7. Don’t let any one individual on the team burn out. We all have to put in late hours here or there, but don’t let anyone continue to do so for an extended time without taking a break. It’s just not healthy.
8. Don’t make up excuses. If you made a mistake (which we all do), admit it and fix it.
9. Don’t over-promise and under-deliver.
10. Don’t ignore problems. Prevent small problems from becoming large ones. Ignoring them will come back to haunt you.
11. Don’t forget to keep the big picture in mind. There is a delicate balance between processes and resources that we must maintain. It is our job to ensure that things come together at the right time and for the greater purpose of the project.
