You must have heard in recent times after IRCTC came in limelight in making its system versatile for agents to block tickets in advance, even hacking the system during Tatkal booking and general consumers like us never getting any Tatkal tickets and for that matter even general tickets in a month advance.

Indian Railways have come up with a new system which they say is only available for end users and no agents would be allowed to get inside (Hoping that doesn’t happen).

This new system is completely different from the IRCTC system and may have its own quota of tickets.

  • Sign up for new user

  • You will need to verify email-id by clicking the link sent on your email and your phone by entering the verification code sent on your phone as an sms.

Your account is created now.

You can then Search, Plan and Book tickets online thru this new portal without agents interference.

You can contact the Helpdesk on 011-24107464, 011-26886540 or email them at customercare@indianrailways.gov.in

I tried booking and checking the status, it looks a bit slow, Old school UI doesn’t look as fancy as that of IRCTC but who cares really. We should be getting tickets in need and that’s it

Here are few screenshots for the same.

Available services: They do match with the services offered by IRCTC so no problem in that at all.

Plan your Journey: We can plan and search for trains but clicking on Check Avl and View Fare buttons, a blank screen appears. May be they still are updating it. If this remains a buggy system people will keep visiting IRCTC or agents and this new facility will fail too. Fingers crossed!!

Update 28th Oct 2011

Portal has been stopped temporarily (may be permanently). The system was launched without proper planning, testing and security. It was a fail. Hope it comes back soon. Railways in the mean time have blocked tatkal booking by Touts from 8AM-9AM which is again a significant step.
