DSPUSRPRF – This command displays the details of a User profile

Eg: DSPUSRPRF USRPRF(UNMNXM) TYPE(*ALL)

The authority to change the user profile is only with the Security Officer or the Security Administrator.

DSPLIB – This command displays the names and attributes of all the objects present in a given library

Eg: DSPLIB LIB(UNMNXM)

WRKOBJ – This command lists all the libraries in the library list in which the specified object is present.

Eg: WRKOBJ OBJ(USHSREP) OBJTYPE(*FILE)

WRKOBJ OBJ(*ALL/USHSREP) OBJTYPE(*FILE)

This lists all the libraries present on the system in which the object is present.

WRKSBMJOB – This command lists the names and status information of all the jobs submitted by a particular user.

Eg: WRKSBMJOB *JOB

This displays all the jobs submitted by the current AS400 session.

WRKSPLF – This command lists all the spool files present on the system for a particular user.

SHIFT + F6, takes you to the bottom of the list from where you can take option 5 to display the spool file.

WRKACTJOB – This command displays all the active jobs in the server. The CPU usage of the server is also displayed. You have to refresh (F5) to know the current status.

Shift + Esc, 3 (on the blue line that appears at the bottom of the screen), Enter – This command displays the attributes of the job including the job name, number and user.

Shift + Esc, 2 (on the blue line that appears at the bottom of the screen), Enter – This is used to stop any interactive process which is active at this moment and needs to be ended immediately.

STRSQL – This command is used to start the SQL editor.

WRKJOBQ – This command lists all the job queues.

DSPDTAARA – This command displays the value of a given data area.

Eg: DSPDTAARA DTAARA(UNMNXM/UTLLRYA1)

CHGDTAARA – This command enables you to change the value of any data area.

Eg: CHGDTAARA DTAARA(UNMNXM/UTLLRYA1) VALUE(‘1’)

DSPFD – This command lists the details of the file.

Eg: DSPFD FILE(UNMNXM/USHSREP)

DSPFFD – This command lists the details of all the fields present in the file

Eg: DSPFFD FILE(UNMNXM/USHSREP)

WRKOBJLCK – This command enables the user to see all the locks that are present on any object.

Eg: You can check the names of all the AS400 sessions and the GUI session in which you are logged in, through your profile using the following command.

WRKOBJLCK OBJ(UNMNXM) OBJTYPE(*USRPRF)

RUNQRY – This command is used to query a file. The format of this command is

RUNQRY *N UNMNXM/USHSREP.

If you also wish to select records, the command should be

RUNQRY *N UNMNXM/USHSREP RCDSLT(*YES)

DSPLIBL – This command lists all the libraries present in the library list. This also includes the system libraries.

EDTLIBL – This command enables the user to edit the library list. Please note that only user libraries can be added or removed. No changes can be made to the system libraries.

Function key F9 allows you to retrieve the last entered command on the command line

(NOTE: This will only retrieve the command you have executed from the time you have started the AS/400 session)
