There is good news coming up from New Delhi, a major step has been put forward that will surely add bright colors in the relationships of two neighboring nations – India & Bangladesh. For the cause of humanity and friendship, New Delhi has extended $1 billion for development projects in the neighboring country and inked five agreements, including key security pacts to expand counter-terror cooperation.

Meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, lasted for nearly two-hour-long, discussing on a range of financial and regional issues. New Delhi has also assured to extend full cooperation for the realization of their vision of social change and economic development. Many initiatives for economic development of the neighboring nation are taken viz. discussion on sharing of river water, promotion of bilateral trade, providing credit for the construction of railway bridges and lines, supply of coaches and locomotives and buses, assistance in dredging, an issue of pressing concern to Dhaka, and resolution of the maritime border dispute.

The two sides inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on expanding power cooperation that will include building inter-grid connectivity, and what topped the discussion was international terrorism, to fill the vacuum nations also signed three treaties on common legal aid in criminal matters, mutual move of convicted prisoners, and full cooperation in the fight against international terrorism.

This visit of Bangladeshi Prime Minister will definitely give new directions to some in not all unresolved or critical issues those have not reached any conclusion for decades.
