Google takes full advantage of all their services to serve maximum ads itself on different UIs. You might have noticed ‘n’ number of ads on Google search results page here and there. After all they also have to have revenues from somewhere.

Ads displayed on Google search results are generally relevant to the search queries but their ads are not always relevant to the content of the page.

You might have not noticed ads on Gmail page, i.e. just above your mails in your Gmail account. Simple, unnoticeable ads though. Currently these ads are many a times not at all related to mails, conversation being happening and hence are least revenue generating for Google. Hence Google plans to work on those.

Google is working hard on Gmail and ads on it to be as relevant and useful as possible. Similar to Priority Inbox feature of Gmail rolled out recently, ads in Gmail will also be prioritized and most useful and relevant ads will be displayed depending upon your recent conversations.

Currently, very fewer times these ads are relevant but most of the time they don’t tent to relate to the content. Bad ads tend to annoy generally.
