Registration of Mobile SMS facility for demat accounts in India has been made mandatory by NSDL.

All Demat account customers have a facility for receiving SMS Alerts on mobile phones. NSDL vide its Circular No. NSDL/POLICY/2009/0039 has made it mandatory for the existing/new accounts, which are operated through Power of Attorney (POA) to register for the SMS Alert Facility.

As per NSDL’s guidance, in case we do not have a mobile phone, we may provide the mobile number of any person as per your discretion.

Benefits of Mobile SMS Alerts Facility:

  • It is free of cost
  • It provides updates through SMS on debits and credits for IPOs and Offer for Sale Allotments, Sub-division, Bonus and failed debit instructions due to insufficient balance, without having to get in touch with our call centre
  • We do not have to wait to receive Transaction Statements to know about such debits and credits
  • In case of any discrepancies, we can immediately approach the bank for clarification

If we have already mentioned a mobile number in our account details, then it would automatically get subscribed for the Mobile Alerts Facility after 30 days from the date of this communication.
