It’s a pretty ugly question to ask about a TV talk show that has entertained the world for over 50 years. The Tonight Show is a late-night talk show that has aired on NBC channel since 1954.

The Tonight Show has been hosted by Steve Allen (1954–1957), Jack Paar (1957–1962), Johnny Carson (1962–1992), Jay Leno (1992–2009), and Conan O’Brien (2009–present).

But it is in controversies now.

NBC has claimed to have sharply lowest ratings since Conan started hosting it, which effectively forced NBC to ask Conan to give the late night slot back to Jay Leno who has been the most successful late night host till date. On which O’Brien has rejected the request saying he would not let his Tonight Show be bumped to the after-midnight hour just for Jay Leno to return to late night.

His refusal may force NBC to either ditch its plan for Jay Leno or risk losing O’Brien to another channel. Fox has already expressed its interest in O’Brien.

So, the future of the host of The Tonight Show is in jeopardy.

I have myself seen the late night show by Letterman, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien and according to me Letterman is the most spontaneous of three and is the best. Jay Leno has a unique style but looks annoying when he makes fun of his guests. Conan is good to his guests but does not have a much experience of the late night show as compared to others.

I am hoping Conan gets what he was promised by the channel and whatever he best deserves.
