Recently, I got an invitation to use newly launched RockMelt browser. I downloaded and installed it but when I ran  the application it started giving me following errors:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022)

I tried it multiple times but all in vain.

After doing some research, I was able to resolve it by putting a switch in the command. Following is the complete resolution:

  1. Find the shortcut to RockMelt browser, right click and select properties.
  2. Add a simple command at the end of target option- “--no-sandbox ” or “--no-process-plugins (Ensure double dash — before the switch.)
  3. Click ok.
  4. Run the application now and you will not receive the error anymore.

For those, who want to know what these commands are for:
  • RockMelt browser is based on Google’s Chrome.
  • In Google chrome, sandbox security mode prevents the malware from getting installed on the system and “ –no-sandbox ” will instruct the Chrome not to use sandbox security.
  • Chrome plugins are run in as separate processes by default, so as to avoid browser crashes whenever a plugin crashes. –in-process-plugins” will instruct Chrome not to run the plugins in separate process and instead  the plugins will be run inside the browser process.

It has solved my problem and hope it solves your problem too.
