This is another wow-est thing after Google+ and Gmail interface upgradation.

You can now upload unlimited photos to your Picasa Web account. The earlier restriction of free storage, 1024 MB (1GB) is still there but you can upload unlimited pics even then, which is the best thing for many of us including me. Many, including me, create multiple Google accounts just to have free pics storage on Picasa multipled but not needed anymore. Upload as many pics / as many albums as you want on your main Google account.

There is catch too with this restriction waive-off but definitely not that significant.

Picasa Web offering 1 GB of free storage for photos and videos is no longer counting size of files under certain size limits.

If you’ve signed up for Google+, photos up to 2048 x 2048 pixels and videos up to 15 minutes won’t count towards free storage of 1 GB whereas if you haven NOT signed up for Google+, photos up to 800 x 800 pixels and videos up to 15 minutes won’t count towards free storage.

I don’t think we upload pics of size greater than 2048×2048 (may be occasionally). And if you never have pics of size crossing the limit then no storage restriction for you really.

If you haven’t signed up for Google+ yet then do it now. It has great advantages.

Here’s screenshot of my picasa web album which went down from 95% usage to 0%. This is definitely WOWW!
