“West Bengal” to only “Bengal”
West Bengal is a familiar name to all Indians. It’s an Indian state on eastern coast.
It was just Bengal before which was separated to two by Britishers, one West Bengal and other East which later became East Pakistan and later became Bangladesh.
Although West Bengal is in east of India, it continued to be called West Bengal.
But after 64 years of independence, people of West Bengal have started to build a unanimous decision to rename the state from “West Bengal” to just “Bengal” and thus making all terms justified like “Bangal Sweets”, “Bengal tiger”, “Bay of Bengal”, etc.
Time of India has also joined the hands and started a campaign in Kolkata which they are calling “Only Bengal”.

Banga>Bangla>Bengal is the original name.’West’ has now lost its significance. The original name of the main territory should not be lost through partition. Now, Bangla and Bengal are the two words which are very much in currency in popular parlance. So West Bengal, I feel, may be renamed Bangla i.e Bengal like our country’s name in the Constitution- ‘India i.e Bharat’.Â

Bangladesh has taken all the flavour of glorious bengal keeping the name of their country as ‘Bangladesh’ with out any permission or consensus of other major part of bengalees outside bangladesh. They not only took the whole right of brand value of ‘Bangla’ and ‘Bangalee’ but also created a perverted ‘bengali’ nation by making it a religeous country and killing/expelling Hindu Bengalees who contributed more in bringing freedom of Bangladesh from tyrant Pakistan. They have insulted Rabindranath Tagore by selecting one of his song as their national anthem for a divided nation which was written for undivided Bengal and Bengalees. It is unfortunate that foreigners consider Bangladeshis as the Bengalee (you can see the recruitment of BBC, VOA etc for their Bangla Services).
In this context the name of other part of Bengal which is now a state of India, should be kept as ‘Adi Bangla’ (i.e. original Bangla) or ‘Sonar Bangla’ which actually holds the original glorious tradition, heritage & culture of unbiased secular Bengal. This will not only eleminate the present problem but also will facilitate original bengalees to regain its culture & heritage-rich  status. So only ‘Adi Bangla’ or ‘Sonar Bangla’ instead of West Bengal……No other option please……think and support for it.Â

denying the existence of east bengal is like denying ur history….the word west all at once echoes with east…making it the probably the only state name in India to hint at the partition……and truly speaking not everyone is supporting the name change….so calling it a unanimous decision would be rather foolishness….it is like changing the name of calcutta to kolkata without thinking of the slice of heritage and colonial significance done with for good
