A Shyam Benegal movie and it really displayed his true character. Definitely a different from the league like all other from his kitty, it proved to be a nice movie commercially as well.

It is a story of a guy living in a village Sajjanpur who makes his living by writing letters for poor and illiterate villagers. It also displays the political conditions in our village panchayats.

His ability to write persuasive letter makes him extremely popular in the village. How he writes opinions of different people in his language is what the story states. He even writes political letters of the opposition party. But interesting part of the movie lies in the manipulation that he does for a lady who goes to him to write a letter to her husband who is living away from her in the city. The guy actually is in love with the girl and she happens to be his childhood crush too. The guy later realizes that his hubby also loves him a lot and he even helps them financially without letting them know about it.

The lead characters are played by Shreyas Talpade and Amrita Rao. Both looks great in their characters.

There are also many different little characters in the story who justify their performances. The dialogues look really live. You feel like that you are actually in Sajjanpur.

My rating to the movie – 8
