Facebook Like Button Giving Error

Posted In Facebook - By NitiN Kumar Jain On Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 With 4 Comments

Facebook recently released Like button for websites / blogs and it was working properly since then but since today morning it is continuously giving an error stating that the link cannot be reached and the users are not able to mark any post / page as liked.

Strange but true.

Clicking on the Like button displays literal ‘Error’ and clicking on it opens up a window explaining the message although the page can be reached.

Initially I thought office proxy might be preventing me to like a page but it is giving me same error without proxy at home too. I don’t know what’s happening.

Are you also facing the similar issue?

Update – 2nd June 2010:

The issue was at Facebook side and has been resolved as an urgent issue. You too can track the issue here http://bugs.developers.facebook.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10674

I also faced this issue while implementing the facebook like button on my site. But as you said you have experienced it only for a day, then this might have been a issue with javascript library at facebook.

But i had exprienced it everytime i was trying to use it with the old javascript library reference of facebook.
I fixed it by using the new one for all facebook plugins like facebook fan box and like button.
I have also written my solution here for other's reference:
